[Why do humans get emotional when we when they lose money?]

Money is our way of being a dominance hierarchy species. It is our modern way of having a slavery system. Money represents the ability to do things, like eat and drink, have a home, have medical care, engage in entertainment, give to others, etc., all of which is very meaningful and important. There are ideas about getting to a point where we don't need money, e.g., the Venus Project.

[Does life without friends lead to a meaningful life?]

We are a social species. It is very difficult to avoid depression if we are socially isolated. One form of torture is solitary confinement (in prisons).

These are my thoughts. What are yours?

Well for one Bill I agree with you on the dominance part of the theory but I do not think its all the answers

The reason why I am asking this question is I worked overtime at my job and my manager said because of the coronovirus they will not be paying me over and bonus that I will have reduced hours so I got emotional. My point of view I feel like they are greedy but looking at a whole at least I still have a job and they are paying me. I looked at some books online on theories about money and found out humans are prone to loss aversion as species they do not like to lose things. This affects them deeply. I read from books that money also have neural connections in our brain it brings us happiness there are chemicals like dopamine pleasure chemical and serotonin that get released which keeps you in a good mood. Losing money sometimes creates fear based mode which is when there something that is in limited supply we want to hold on to it. Money is also equated with social status you dont want to fall below the middle class or be poor that can make you emotional etc.

I am still researching on second question answer...I will reply after I find some answers.

I agree with what you have said. My response was to try to identify the underlying basic phenomena that explain the more specific examples that you are presenting, Does anything you have said seem actually not to be an example of what I have said. Maybe I have missed something. Thanks for responding.
